Abstract
At the end of the colonization process, the city of Coro conducted with owners and renters, according to the data of its own issued in 1593, by Don Diego de Osorio, the breadth of what practically corresponds to the limits of the current Falcón state. However, it seems that at the beginning of the 18th century is when the Corian elite that held power decided to restructure the territory according to its cardinal points and settle ethnic groups defined according to the necessary function. The dark skin population of the enslaved escaped from Curaçao would occupy part of the Sierra Coriana (Santa María de la Chapa, in our case study) and the human groups originating from the arid Falconian - Antillean, recognized as Caquetios, disposed of the lands of the Sabanas de Tatarata, to found, within the parish of El Carrizal, the indigenous towns of El Valle de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe de El Carrizal and Nuestra Señora de la Caridad de Guaibacoa. All this in order to protect the coasts from posible invasions by pirates and corsairs, as well as to ensure food products from agricultura from La Chapa and Guaibacoa, as well as fish from El Carrizal. The following lines detail the actions that facilitated the settlement of human groups that consolidated the occupation of these spaces, and over time have built an identity in their ways of life and construction of their human landscapes, and spatial dynamics.Published
