De los usos sociales, al patrimonio cultural de la Vela. Parte I.
Abstract
This study made it possible to delve into the fishermen, the Veleño drum, wood artisans, the "locos de la vela" and the mud houses. From this identification of the main practices, it was also possible to inquire about the motivations and benefits that are articulated around the appropriation of the cultural heritage of Velez. On the other hand, in order to enunciate the typologies of tangible and intangible goods privileged by the actors as part of cultural consumption, we can simply conclude that in La Vela there are only two buildings that have been declared a monument as such, the headquarters of the old customs house and the Nuestra Señora del Carmen church, but all of La Vela is a monument. The technique of clay is intangible, the music is a marvel, the dance of the drum, the locos de la Vela, as well as the painting. The religiosity is something intangible, this is demonstrated by the devotion of the people of Velez to the Virgin of Carmen and the Virgin of Guadalupe. Finally, as for the delimitation of the main factors and/or processes that mediate the social uses around this heritage, everything is possible thanks to the unconditional support that has always been provided by the mayor's office, the Government of Falcon State and the Institute of Cultural Heritage of the Nation, but it is not enough, the approach to the social uses of heritage could only be effective when there is a true communicational strategy that involves the masses to give it dynamism and symbolic meaning by the new generations.Published
