Introduction: Aging is a natural and universal process, although each person experiences it differently. Within this framework, ageism emerges, a form of age-based discrimination expressed through stereotypes, prejudices, and negative behaviors toward older adults. Objective: The objective of this study was to identify negative stereotypes about old age, aging, and older adults among young university students in the health field. Methodology: A quantitative, descriptive, and cross-sectional approach was used, applying the Survey on Negative Stereotypes toward Old Age (CENVE) to 120 students of Nursing, Medicine, Stomatology, Physiotherapy, and Podiatry at the Meritorious Autonomous University of Puebla (BUAP). Results: The results show the persistence of ideas about dependency, rigidity, and cognitive decline, although positive aspects are also recognized. Conclusions: It is concluded that it is necessary to strengthen training on aging and good treatment, promoting an empathetic and inclusive perspective.
