Abstract

Introduction: Aging involves significant hormonal changes, such as menopause and andropause, which impact the physical, emotional, and social health of older adults. Methodology: This qualitative research, with a phenomenological approach, aimed to analyze the perception of 3 men and 5 women over 60 years old, beneficiaries of public health institutions in the city of Puebla, regarding these processes, through semi-structured interviews. Results: Their lived experiences were explored in depth, identifying the biopsychosocial changes they have faced, as well as the strategies they have used to reinterpret these stages within their sociocultural context. Discussion: In this study, we observed that menopause and andropause remain largely unknown to older adults and represent a challenge for the health sector. Conclusion: This study generated useful information for the expansion of health education regarding these hormonal processes.
