Adaptaciones Cinematográficas: Homenaje o Afrenta a la Literatura

Abstract

Commonly, discussions are created around the premiere (or even planning) of a film product that is based on a literary text, because the concern arises of being fair to the original material and do not misrepresent or destroy the intention of that text. In this article, based methodologically on the theoretical and critical postulates on the literature-film relationship of Robert Stam, José Sánchez y Sergio Wolf, some of the reasons that generates mistrust before a film adaptation will be addressed, as well as some examples of texts made into films, where the main differences between these two formats are evident and the reasons why these arts do not share a number of qualities, and, in this way consider whether the adaptation of literary text, benefits or ruins it. Being arts of different qualities and characteristics, they should be treated with the same respect, valuing their individual nature.
